Koh Tao or "Turtle Island" is located at a distance of 60 km to the north of Koh Samui. Koh Tao is often called the pearl of the Gulf of Thailand. In the North West of Koh Tao, a kilometer away from it is a small island Koh Nang Yuan - the hallmark of southern Thailand.

Koh Phangan is the largest neighbour of Koh Samui located just in 12 km to the north.
