Koh Tan – is a small island in the Katen archipelago within only 2 km to the south of Koh Samui. Koh Tan is covered with tropical forests and the whole seashore is a sand beach.
This unique island has an area of just 7.5 square kilometers with a population of 70 local people, but there is a Buddhist temple here, a Thai restaurant, and a new French restaurant on the shore – “Au bout du Monde”, a school, a small clinic, and even the police station with a police officer!
Besides, near Koh Tan is a stunning coral reef with colorful inhabitants. It is the nearest to the island of Koh Samui a place for snorkeling. The locals call Koh Tan an island with no dogs. They believe that the sounds of bats that live on the island scare the poor animals and force them to swim back to Koh Samui, where there are no bats.
